A gathering where we move with, or are moved by, grief.
We come together in a held and caring space, gently guided through different stages and gates of grief—to tend the hidden sorrow we carry, and listen to the unspoken emotions within. The setting invites vulnerability and offers the opportunity not only to express grief, but also—if needed—to be witnessed in it by a compassionate community.
This cacao and grief ceremony is a co-creation with Lies Verswijvel from Belgium. Lies is a death, grief, and crisis doula and artist who creates sanctuaries through ritual, story, and imagination, inviting connection to ancestral heritage and the natural world to honor the full spectrum of human experience with empathy, belonging, and compassion.
